Champaign County Historical Museum - 102 E. University Avenue, Champaign, IL 61820, 217/356-1010.  Scheduled to open mid-2001.  Check web site or call for hours and admission information.  Local history exhibits, including restored Cattle Bank building, which houses the museum.
Champaign-Urbana Symphony - 701 Devonshire Drive C-24, Champaign, IL 61820, 217/351-9139.  Call for upcoming season performances/locations and admission information.  Many opportunities, including a variety of activities to enlighten and entertain young people.  Web site includes .pdf files of children's puzzles and other paper activities about the orchestra and music.
Early American Museum - P.O. Drawer 1040 Mahomet, Illinois 61853,, 217/586-2612.  See web site for directions and map.  Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. June, July, August; Weekends 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. April through December.  Admission is free.  Many opportunities for children and families, including special programs (some require a fee to register - see web site for current exhibits and programs).
Krannert Art Museum - 500 East Peabody Drive, Champaign IL 61820, 217/333-1860.  Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; closed Mondays.  Admission is free, suggested donation $3/person.  Parking free on weekends or on weekdays after 5:00 p.m.  Parking pass available from guards at Peabody entrance.  European and American painting, decorative arts, Asian art, African art, contemporary arts and more.  See web site for current programs and exhibits.
Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum - 1011 Pacesetter Drive, Rantoul, Illinois 61866, 217/893-1613 or toll-free 1-877-RANTOUL.  Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.  Admission: Adults (18 years and up)/$5.00; Seniors (62 years and up) and retired military/$4.00; Children (K-12)/$3.00; Children under 4 years/free; Scheduled group discount available.  Aviation history in Illinois, including exhibits about "Marcellus Foose's aircraft workshop and famed Illinois aviator Cornelius R. Coffey".  Other opportunities include military and non-military aircraft and missiles, aerospace ground equipment, and a variety of aviation learning programs.
Orpheum Children's Science Museum Homepage - 356 North Neil, Champaign, IL  61820, 217/352-5895.  Wednesday through Sunday and most school holidays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Admission: $3/adult; $2/child; members/free.  Pre-arranged field trips allow adult chaperones free (one per each five children requested).  Many hands-on opportunities, including a giant lever, design-a-dinosaur, and much more.
Sinfonia da Camera - 1114 W Nevada, Urbana, IL 61801, 217/244-4350.  Call for upcoming schedule and admission information.  Opportunities include the Student Performance Project.
The Spurlock Museum at the University of Illinois - 600 S. Gregory St., Urbana, IL 61801, Regular Hours: Tuesday from Noon - 5 pm, Wed, Thurs, Fri from  9 am - 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm; Admission is free (the suggested donation is $3).
