Arlington Heights (Arlington HOUSE)
Champaign-Urbana (Champaign County HOUSE)

We meet 1-2 times a week for a park day so the kids can play. We also have occasional field trips, holiday activities and other meetings as well as the website for support/info. Many of us have kids with special needs so there is plenty of support/experience with that as well as several single parents and working parents. We are a very diverse group.
Evanston (Evanston Home Educators)
Lake County (Lake County HOUSE)

We are located in and around Lake County, Illinois. Our mission is to provide non-sectarian and non-political support and information for homeschooling families as well as providing socialization and shared educational opportunities for our children.

Lake County H.O.U.S.E. provides many clubs and field trip experiences organized by and for its members and others in the homeschool community, as well as a lively dialogue concerning homeschool interests and educational opportunities in the Lake County and Chicagoland areas. New members are always welcome.
Matteson (Grassroots Homeschoolers)

We are a very diverse group in the south suburbs. Meetings are near both I-57 and I-80 and are twice monthly with a theme each meeting, Sept. through May. In summer we have field trips and park days. Call us for information or check our website.
Mid-South Chicago
Northwest Cook County
Saline County
Schaumburg (Schaumburg HOUSE)

Our Members come from many towns surrounding Schaumburg and beyond! We are a very active group with monthly and weekly activities. We usually have something going on 2-4 times a week all throughout the year.
West Suburban (Westside HOUSE)

Our members have children ranging in age from babies and toddlers to teenagers. We meet most Mondays either at the library for our co-op or at park days, and most Fridays for field trips and service projects. Our activities are member-driven and no cost, aside from admission to museums, etc.

Some of these areas have more than one active group.

In addition, we have contacts (but not active groups) in the following areas:

Fox Valley (Kane/Kendall Co.) Marseilles
Lee County area Peoria
Livingston County Will County

If you would like to affiliate your homeschool group with HOUSE, please email

We also have contact people who can answer questions about special needs or single parent homeschooling. While they may not be able to give you answers to strictly local questions (such as how to deal with your particular school district), they may be able to help you with general questions about these issues.

If you do not have email access, you can call HOUSE at 1(847)622-5200. Please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you need a personal reply, please include your phone number or mail address.
Several of our contacts do not have e-mail.
