Amboy Depot Museum - 50 N. East Avenue, Amboy, IL  61310, 815/857-3814.  May through September Santurday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Railroad and local history.  Locomotive outside.
Blackhawk Waterways - including:
 Franklin Creek Natural Area - 1872 Twist Road, Franklin Grove, IL 61031,  815/456-2878.  Call for hours of 
 operation and admission info.  Picnicking, hiking, fishing, and more.
 Green River State Wildlife Area - 375 Game Road, Harmon, IL 61042, 815/379-2324.  Call for hours of operation 
 and admission info.  Camping, hiking, picnicking, grist mill, and more.
 Nachusa Grasslands - 2055 Lowden Road, Franklin Grove, IL,  815/456-2340.  Run by the Nature Conservancy.  
 Hiking and bird-watching.
John Deere Plow Works - 8393 S. Main, Grand Detour, IL,  815/652-4551.  April through October daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Call for admission.  Restored home, smith shops, history of Deere plows.
Loveland Museum - 513 W. Second St., Dixon, IL,  815/284-2741.  Wednesday through Friday 9 a.m. to noon; First Saturday of every month 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Free admission.  Local history.
Ronald Reagan's Boyhood Home - 816 S. Hennepin Ave., Dixon, IL,  815/288-3404.  March through November: Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  December through February:  Weekends only.  Tour includes re-telling of Reagan's life in Dixon.
