Belleville Philharmonic Society Symphony Orchestra - 116 N. Jackson, Belleville, Illinois 62220, 618/235-5600.  Opportunities include philharmonic orchestra, junior orchestra, wind ensemble, and chamber orchestra.  Since 1867, they have been providing community arts enrichment opportunities through locally-held concerts.  See web site or call for ticket information, audition information, and performance locations.
The Belleville Philharmonic Society has these opportunities for anyone who is interested in performing in an orchestra or singing.

  1. In the summer there is intergenerational orchestra that meets on Monday afternoons. It is open to young players of all ages. Rehearsals are Mondays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Philharmonic Hall 116 N. Jackson in Belleville. Please visit the web page for more information and to obtain an audition form.
  2. Belleville Philharmonic Chorale meets on Mondays from 7:45 to 9:30 starting on the Monday after Labor Day. High School age students are eligible to sing. Call Robert Howard for more information or to arrange an audition appointment.
  3. The second year of Summer Sings will be on the nights of July 14th and 21st. These are one night events that consist of: rehearsal of a major work, a break for refreshments and social interaction followed by a complete run through of the scheduled work. 


Cahokia Courthouse - First and Elm Streets, Cahokia, IL 62206, 618/332-1782.  Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.  French colonial architecture, local history exhibits, adjacent to several other local historical sites.

Frank Holten State Park - 4500 Pocket Road, East St. Louis, IL 62205, 618/874-7920.  Golf (call 618/398-9999), fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.  Call for hours and admission information.

Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area - 10981 Conservation Road, Baldwin, IL 62217, 618/785-2555.  Fishing, boat ramps, hunting, and other outdoor activities.  Call for hours and admission information.

O'Fallon Historical Society - 101 West State Street, O'Fallon, IL  62269.  Hours:  Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Local history.

Henry White Experimental Farm - four miles southwest of Belleville on IL Route 158 and near Eyman Rd.  Part of the Soil and Water Conservation District, 618/233-5583.  Call for hours and admission information.  Agricultural and environmental education opportunities.
